There are many different religions worshiping the same Creator, but most of them believe they're God's chosen people. The Ten Commandments states: Thou shall not kill... but is it all right for humans to kill each other because they worship your god? I don't think so. But if that's the case, I think it's motivated by pure jealousy, perhaps on the unconscious level. My god is better than your god; my god loves me more than he loves you, etc.
The creator gave humans a mind and the ability to think and reason. I did not live all these years and not learn something—I have studied and meditated, and therefore choose to walk my own path and not follow the sheep.
And if you think your thoughts don't affect other minds, then you know nothing about the collective unconscious: All minds are connected, and what affects one affects all the others.
There are too many gods and too many religions all professing to be the anointed ones. In my humble opinion, if that's the way you think and believe, you're in deep trouble.
